Outdoor Lanterns for Arts & Crafts Seaside Cottage
The charming seaside Arts & Crafts cottage shown is a new dwelling built by Windover Construction of Massachusetts. Built as a carriage house and meant to coordinate with the main 1920's home on the waterfront property, it has a beautiful view of the ocean and marina. There are porches for entertaining and relaxing where residents and guests can enjoy the sights and the salt air. The front porch entrance boasts a tall, steep dormer the perfect location for a high quality, handcrafted large scale pendant lantern. The back and side porches are fine examples of using multiple, small lanterns to provide plenty of attractive illumination to enhance the comfortable spaces both inside and around the porches.
The architect, John Olson of Olson Lewis Architects chose the Stonehaven family of lanterns for outdoor lighting for the home, garage, and driveway entrance to underscore the vintage feel of the property. The location determined the size and mounting style of the lanterns and perfect coordination is maintained with our genuine Verdigris Patina metal finish, organic Cream art glass panels, and delightful Crosscut overlay. The Crosscut overlay provides a pleasing contrast to the many vertical and horizontal lines of the cedar siding, stone courses on the columns and porches, and to the multi-pane windows and French doors. Crosscut overlay on the lanterns is also a reminder of the medieval English roots of Arts & Crafts architecture and adds an important historic architectural detail.
